This started because I was screwing around with the chords of the original and I realized that when I switched keys and reversed the order of some of the chords, I could apply a similar inversion to the melodic properties that Taylor uses in the original and with a little bit of fudging there was a really cool, darker version there. The rest of it just fell into place. It never felt like I was writing any of this, it felt like I had dug deep into the bones of the original song and rearranged them into something that was there all along, just waiting to be discovered.
